Shillong, June 17: The Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that it is wrong from the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, if not to give No Objection Certificate for road construction in the Khasi Hills. As policy maker we have take an oath to carry out our duty without fear or favour.
When it come to Uranium mining the Chief minister clear said that “Uranium mining is national agenda”, if it goes for mining the government will take the people into confidence, and if uranium is to be mine it will be for the interest of the state, he said.
The Chief Minister while speaking on this issue he said look to 2010 and after 2010, we should not be apprehensive, he said look at the lager interest of the people. People need development we should be deprived it; there is lot of disparity in the development particularly in west Khasi Hills, and South West Khasi Hills.
On the question that the ministry official of Road transport and highway has ask the state government that they should give NOC with the period of one month or else they will divert the Rs.4000 cores Road project from Meghalaya, the Chief Minister said that he has directed the Chief Secretary to call for the meeting.
The Chief Minister has spell out comprehensive road map for the state of Meghalaya base on the Special Assistance Rural Development Programme (SARDP) this was done by the previous UPA Government, with the initiative taken by AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi.
Meghalaya need good road to be connected will all national highway and District head quarters, The Road from Baghmara to Ranikor , Ranikor to Nongstoin Via Phangldiloin, from nongstoin to Kyrshai via Rambrai, From Nongstoin to Shallang conneting to Boko, from Chokpot to Willamnagar vi Durama Hills, Unsming to Jagiroad and many more, he said all this are for the development of the state and the people. The Chief Minister has asked the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council he to give NOC to road that is within Garo Hills District Council.
