Ampati, July 03: In a landmark achievement for the cooperative movement in South West Garo Hills, Kerupara Integrated Village Cooperative Society (IVCS) Ltd. on Thursday opened its first retail outlet at Ampati Market, becoming the first IVCS in the district to establish its own sales outlet at the district headquarters.
The outlet will offer the full range of products manufactured and marketed by Kerupara IVCS Ltd., providing consumers with direct access to locally processed agricultural and food products while creating a stronger market for farmers and rural producers.
Established on September 29, 2019, Kerupara IVCS Ltd. has been actively serving its members and neighbouring rural communities through various cooperative initiatives. In 2023, the society expanded into value addition by processing farm produce such as cashew nuts, arecanut and a variety of fruit-based products.
The following year, it diversified further by venturing into food processing, broadening its product range and strengthening its business operations.
The opening of the outlet marks another milestone in the cooperative’s growth journey and reflects its commitment to promoting rural entrepreneurship through value addition and market linkage.
By establishing a permanent retail presence in Ampati, the society aims to enhance the visibility and accessibility of locally produced goods while ensuring better returns for its members.
As a pioneer among Integrated Village Cooperative Societies in South West Garo Hills, Kerupara IVCS Ltd. has set a benchmark for other cooperatives in the district.
The initiative is expected to encourage similar ventures by cooperative societies, contributing to local economic development, employment generation, and the promotion of indigenous products from the region.
