KSU met the Chairman of MPSC demand abolition of personal interviews from Grade B below

Shillong, July 26: The Khasi Students’ Union Employment Monitoring Cell today met the Chairman of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) and submitted letter to express their resentment over the functioning of the Commission over the current Notification No. MPSC/Ex-C/50/2021-2022/145 dated 23rd of July, 2024.

In the letter the KSU mention that the said notification, it can be seen that 62 candidates have been added for the written examination to the original list of candidates which was declared on the 15th of December, 2023.

The Union would like to seek clarification from the Commission as to how many questions were faulty which led to the addition of these 62 candidates or what were the reasons as to the OMR sheets being reviewed.

And, also if the original questions or answers are faulty, and after being reviewed there are changes which led to the selection of these candidates then it would also mean that the candidates who have been selected previously would have secured a wrong answer which should means that they may not be able to qualify the said written examination.

But there is not list of any candidates being deducted from the main examination. In any regards whatsoever, the candidates have nothing to do with the failure of the Commission to conduct a proper and appropriate examination.

The Union fails to see how would the Commission stands up to its reputation of conducting fair and transparent recruitment when these kinds of errors are frequent. These kinds of event lead to the youths not having any faith in the Commission being fair and just.

The Union demands accountability from the Commission. Such kinds of events keep happening but no one is ever held accountable or penalized as per law which allows such things to be repeated or it can be said that these things are being allowed to be repeated so as to keep space for nepotism, partiality and favouritism.

Thus, the Union demands that any employee, firm or agency who have been engaged with setting of the faulty question papers or anyone involved with the matter which has made this examination dubious must be held liable and immediately terminated and blacklisted for his or her and their incompetency so as to set a precedence as to such things not repeating itself.

The Union would also like to remind you several other matters that the Union time and again has demanded from the Commission such as abolition of personal interviews from Grade B below, display of marks for every examination, interview under camera for Grade A recruitment, etc.

The Union humbly urge the chairman of the MPSC  to initiate steps to resolve these matters which have been pending over a long time, failing to which the Union is bound to take necessary steps and actions., the letter was sign by  Reuben Najiar chairman Employment Monitoring Cell Employment Monitoring Cell Khasi Students’ Union Khasi Students’ Union and Manly Nongpluh Secretary.
