Shillong, Feb 20: NCC Directorate North East Region, Shillong is responsible for NCC activities in seven states of NE and has successfully reached out to border and remote areas in its drive to provide opportunities to youth of NER.
With approx 90,000 enrolled cadets, NCC has presence in 312 colleges and 813 schools in seven states including remote areas such as Anini in Arunachal. Last one year, NCC, under Major General Raju Chauhan, Additional Director General, has increased its visibility, focused on Nation Building and has been at fore front in all social schemes of government such as Swacha Bharat Abhiyan.
Under guidance of Major General Chauhan, who in relinquishing appointment, NCC in NER got an impetus and performance of NER Dte saw a quantum jump and got recognition from all state governments and DG NCC.
Tremendous enthusiasm has been generated amongst youth of Meghalaya who are part of NCC and this was evidently visible during Street Play on Swachhta organised in presence of Hon’ble Governor at Marba Hub and Chief Minister also graced all India trek for NCC organised at Laitkor. Maj Gen Chauhan leaves on a high to take up a challenging assignment in Jammu and Kashmir.
