Meghalaya Govt neglected Mawdem area, pave way to Assam Govt to encroached

Shillong, February 05: The Sordar of Mawdem and Behalari village of Ri Bhoi District, told the Co-Chairman Meghalaya State Planning Board Mr John F Kharshiing on his visit to this villages recently that since the Meghalaya Government has neglected Mawdem area this has pave way for the Assam Government to encroach in the border area.

The Co-Chairman of the Meghalaya state planning board assured the people of the area that he will take up the issued with the state Government to erect pillars in the bounder with the state of Assam, he will persuade with the state government to ensure that development schemes riches to the people living in the border area with Assam.

The sordar of  Mawden village apprise the Co-Chairman  State Planning Board that the villages in the Mawden area faces water scarcity. In the year 2004 the government has sanction Rs.70 lakh for the water supply skhim, the work was completed but the pipes line has to cross the Khri River, during rainy season pipes were washing away.

The Co-Chairman state planning board in his spot visit to the village the people are facing problem in electricity connection since there are few linemen and the substation is located around 30 km from the village. He also witness about the bad road condition in the area.
