Shillong, Nov 14: The second day of the 4th Edition of the India International, Cherry Blossom Festival, 2019 saw a number of events spread across the various venues.
Visitors both tourists as well as locals, young and old thronged the venues and were seen enjoying the various events held on Thursday.They also participated in the various competitions held during the day.
The highlight of the day was the chili eating competition, which was held at the Ward’s Lake where various participants took part.
Leninston M Sangma and Aman Swer ate 14 chillies each, but Leninston was declared the winner after he took lesser time to eat it, Aman won the second position and Amos Nongrum with 10 chilles came in the third position.
The winner was given a prize money of Rs 5000, the second position winner won Rs 3000 and the third prize winner took home Rs 2000.Earlier on Thursday morning, a cherry blossom run was held where about a hundred participants took part.
Later in the day, a drawing and painting competition was held at the State Central Library. The other events which were held were traditional archery competition, dog show, dog show competition, musical drama by school children, colours of northeast and DJ Music at Polo Fifth Ground.
Also various toddlers and kids took part in the Cutie Kids Competition which was held at the Ward’s Lake. The winners in this completion were – Abigail Donna Shangpliang (winner), Harshit Surana (first runners up) and Saanchi Chettri (second runners up).
The other events held at the Ward’s Lake on the second day of the festival were the rendition of traditional songs and LG XBOOM Karaoke Contest.
On Friday, the third day of the festival various exciting event are lined up, which includes indigenous games of Meghalaya , cosplay completion and taekwondo, Miss Cherry Blossom 2019, Plus Size Queen and Mrs Shillong and Rock Show at Polo Fifth Ground.
Story telling by school children and LG Queen of the Kitchen will be held at Ward’s Lake.While for those who would like to watch a South Korean Movie, “Confidential Assignment” will be screened at State Central Library at 6:30 pm.
