More tha 250 NCC cadet taking part at the first Combined Annual Training Camp

Shillong, June 22: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Meghalaya is a boon for the youth of the state.  61 Meghalaya Girls Battalion (Bn) NCC is conducting its first Combined Annual Training Camp at 119 TA Bn Bishnupur. The 10 day camp commenced on 14 June.   A total of 250 cadets from all over Meghalaya are taking part in the camp. This was stated by Defence spokesperson Group Captain Amit Mahajan in a press release here today. The camp will conclude on the 23 Jun 2016.

The camp aims at developing the overall personality of the cadets who are the future of the nation. The training schedule includes physical training, drill, weapon training, firing, yoga, social and cultural activities. The cadets through the camp inculcate ethos of secular outlook, discipline, sportsmanship, spirit of adventure and comradeship. These qualities when imbibed by the cadets are great source of inspiration to others, and also a source of confidence building in the youth. They get a sense of satisfaction and direction for their future. Recently one of the ex- cadets from Meghalaya has climbed the Mount Everest with all help and guidance from NCC.

During the Camp the cadets are provided with all the basic amenities and nutritious meals. Every care is taken to ensure their safety and security. The cadets are also paid the travelling allowances at the end of the camp. During the camp various competitions are organised to encourage and develop communication skills and channelise their energy towards nation building. The cadet’s performance is judged daily and is suitably rewarded to keep them motivated. It should be the endeavor of all youth in schools and colleges of Meghalaya to be part of NCC and benefit from the organisation.
