Shillong, June 06: The Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council (MPHRC) has strongly condemned the merciless killing of (L) Mrs. Josbina M. Sangma, a 35 year old mother of four minor children, by the suspected members of the GNLA and has termed this unfortunate incident as “a gruesome crime against humanity and a clear violation of humanitarian law.”

“We are deeply shocked by this cruel and inhuman killing of (L) Mrs. Sangma and strongly condemned the perpetrators for showing a total disregard for the respect of the human rights of an individual, a concern for each and every citizen who wants to live in peace” said Dino D.G. Dympep, Chairman MPHRC.

Expressing its strong resentment to the the overall failure of the government to maintain law and order in Garo Hills District, we continue to emphasise that “it is the responsibility of the government to protect the rule of law and that any indiscriminate acts of violence, by any armed groups, violate the human rights and will further create legitimate public concerns about peace and security” said MPHRC.(SP News)
