Shillong, July 22: The MP from Tura Mr Conrad K Sangma today in the National Capital met the Nitn Gadkari union minister incharge ministry Road surface transport and highway and took up with him about the road connectivity in Garo Hills that road Connecting Rongjeng to Adokgre Via Mansang Approximately 50 km, this particular road has been completely neglected by the Central as well as the State Government.
The people living in this region are completely cut off from the rest of the State and need this road immediately as this serves as a lifeline for them.
At the same time this area is mainly an agricultural producing area and hence the people face difficulty in getting their produce to the near market because of the bad condition of the road.
Road Connecting Agia (Assam) to Garobada via Tikrikilla, Phulbari and Rajabala, which is currently under NEC to be taken up by National Highways, this particular road connects the entire plain belt area of my constituency to the NH 37 which is the main connectivity to the rest of the North Eastern States and further to the Country.
The population here suffers every year due to heavy floods and in the absence of proper roads they face great difficulty in every sense. At the same time this area is very much a commercial zone and the bad condition of the roads hampers the economic growth of the region.
Due to the bad condition of the road the people from this area have to sometimes go round and go to Assam via NH 52, which turns out to be very lengthy. Mr Conrad said “I shall be grateful if you could kindly issue necessary instructions to your Ministry/ department to take up these on priority basis”.
