Shillong, Jan 15: The Institute in its continuing efforts of providing skilled and trained professionals manpower, has recently taken up with the Ministry, for consideration and approvals for starting additional Postgraduate programmes, MD/MS courses.
The departments that NEIGRIHMS want to start with are, Dermatology Department, ENT Department, Ophthalmology Department, Pharmacology Department, Forensic Medicine Department, Biochemistry Department.
This will tide down the shortage of skilled professional, especially for Institute like NEIGRIHMS, located far away from the metropolitan cities. On the reported on the news “NEIGRIHMS sends paediatric cases to local hospital”.
In this regard, it is clarified that at present the Institute is carrying out installations of the Gas Manifold Systems in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Paediatric Ward which may likely take about 7 (seven) days, for completion. During this period, in order to avoid any inconveniences to patients, the patients are being diverted to other hospitals.
Also at present, the department of Paediatric is facing shortage of faculty since two faculty members working on adhoc, has completed their term and the two newly selected Faculty in the level of Assistant Professors in Paediatric, have sought for time extension to join. The Institute is making all efforts to have the Faculty in position besides improving the overall patient health care services.
Today, upgraded Lecture Theatre-I was inaugurated by the Director, NEIGRIHMS at 10:30 A.M in presence of Secretary Health, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India at Nirman Bhavan, New Delhi. Through this Lecture Theatre, video conferencing and telemedicine projects will be shared with other Institutions, including Northeast Region.
