Shillong. October 3: The Commanding Officer, Special Force-10 has informed that the Passing Out Parade of the 1st Batch of SF-10 Commandos and Law and Order Group will be held at the 1st MLP Battalion Parade Ground on 5th October from 11:30 AM onwards.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr.Mukul Sangma will take the Salute as Chief Guest at the passing out parade which is expected to be attended by the Council of Ministers, Senior Police officials, Government officials, other dignitaries and family members of the Passing Out cadets
The SF-10 was created as there was a need for the State to have its own specialized force to deal with counter-insurgency operations, crowd control and management during law and order situations.
The 1st Batch of SF-10 have completed their training which included 6 months Basic Training and 3 ½ months Special Commando Counter Insurgency Course. These personnel were trained for counter insurgency at 1st MLP Battalion Training Centre under the supervision of Brigadier W.B.J Sturgeon and instructors of Army Special Forces and the Meghalaya Police. The SF-10 are trained in armed and unarmed combats as well as other tactics for survival in both urban and jungle warfare scenarios.
The commandos passing out on October 5 will be deployed for Anti- Militancy Operations while those selected for law and order will further undergo specialized training on Riot & Crowd Control to be imparted by the Rapid Action Force of the CrPF.
