Jowai December 05:The Public Information Campaign (PIC) on Bharat Nirman programmed of the Central govt. was inaugurated today by Dr. R.C. Laloo, Minister for Education, Soil & Water Conservation etc. Govt. of Meghalaya at the Madan Iawmusiang Field, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills district, organized by the Central Media Units like PIB, DFP, DAVP, AIR & DDK in cooperation with the District Administration, Jowai to bring about awareness about the Central flagship programmed like NRHM, RTI etc.
In his inaugural speech as the Chief Guest, Dr. R.C. Laloo said that he was pleased to know that the PICs are being organized to make the people aware of the Central schemes. Most of the schemes implemented in the state are being funded by the Centre which have largely benefitted the people for e.g. the Accelerated Integrated Benefit Programmed (AIBP) has been largely funded by the Govt. of India which have helped to uplift various parts of the state. Other schemes funded are the SSA, MMP, Agriculture, Rural Development etc.
Shri P.S. Dkhar, Dy. Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai presided over the inaugural function. Dr. Engam Pamei, Director, DFP & Chairman, IMPCC, Meghalaya Chapter explained the objectives of holding the PIC such as organizing awareness campaigns to reach out to the people to explain the schemes launched for their welfare.
at the technical session, Dr. J.V. Shullai, Addl. DM & HO, Jowai spoke about the various health schemes being implemented under NRHM such as the activities of the Village Health & Sanitation Committees, Janani Suraksha Yojana, JSSK, RSVY etc. Shri H. Dhar, RWE, DIPR, Jowai spoke on the role of PIOs and APIOs under RTI. Shri D. Pyrbot, ADA, Plant Protection, Jowai spoke on Agriculture. Shri J. Kynjing, FPO, Jowai anchored the programme while Shri N.J. Saikia, M & CO, PIB, Shillong gave the welcome address. On the occasion, exhibition stalls were put up by the government departments.(SP News)
