Shillong, April 04: The superintendent of police East Khasi Hills Mr M Kharkrang said that intelligence information was received that due to on going operations in Garo Hills, some of the cadres of the militant outfits active there, were taking refuge in Shillong . Based on this input, a tight surveillance was put in all hotels and lodges at Shillong.
On Friday evening a raid was conducted by SWAT at Grace Hotel in Police Bazar and a senior cadre of ANVC (B) namely Shri Apsal M Sangma @ Dokrak, 26 yrs of Dobi, Baghmara was arrested and from his possession 2 Nos of Mobile phone and Rs.76,000/- in cash was seized. He was with two other accomplices namely James Momin, 26 years of Swadrang, Tura and Shri. Isac Marak 23 years of D.C. Colony, Williamnager. Mobile and Cash of Rs, 16,760/- were also seized from them.
A Maruti car located outside the hotel which was used by the criminals had a front registration plate as ML07-A-5331 and back registration plate as AS-01-6648. During the raid two females were also found inside their room who were sex workers. They have also been arrested. All five persons found inside the room with liquor bottles and having a party. Shri Apsal M.Sangma was suspected to be involved in the twin shooting in Williamnagar town recently.
From preliminary investigation, it clearly indicates that the senior cadres of the different criminal gangs in Garo Hills do come to Shillong to take refuge and indulged in various immoral activities with the extorted. money.(SP News)
