Shillong, July 19: A newly set up trust titled “SMART CHARITABLE TRUST” recognizing the hard work put in by Shillong Traffic Police awarded two Traffic Policemen namely Head Constable Mahendra Saikia of Sadar Traffic Branch and Constable Deepak Pradhan of Laitumkhrah Traffic Branch with the “Best Shillong Traffic Policeman Award” for the year 2015-2016. A Certificate of Appreciation, a Momento and Cash award of Rs. 7,000/- was given to each.
The trust was initiated and conceptualized by Shri. Prashant Naik, Retd. IAS, Ex Addl. Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya and its members included Retd. bureaucrats. The aim of the trust is to award common people who have contributed to the well being of Society.
Present in the Award Ceremony were the other trust members, Deputy Inspector General of Police (E/R) Meghalaya, Shillong, Shri. A.R. Mawthoh, IPS, Shri. M. Kharkrang, IPS, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Shillong and other Police Officers.The award has encouraged the Police Personnel of Shillong Traffic Police to put in more effort.
