Shillong, December 31: With few hours left to welcome the New Year 2017, the police have made elaborate arrangements to check drunken driving to night on New Year celebration. To ensure that New Year celebration is free from any unwanted incident the police will intensify patrolling.
On the eve of Christmas, police detected 25 cases of drunken driving and cases have been taken up against such offenders as per the Motor Vehicle Act. In this connection, the police have urged all motorists to cooperate by avoiding driving when they are under the influence of alcohol.
This checking will prevent accidents which may otherwise lead to loss of precious lives. The city police will be conducting intensive checking and motorists are requested to bear with inconvenience.
