Policemen hurt in accidental firing in Garo Hills

 

Tura, Aug 11: Two policemen were hurt in a case of accidental firing
in the remote village of Purakhasia about 35 km from here this
morning.
A driver and a battalion constable got hurt, when a carbine
accidentally went off.

The injured policemen have been identified as Battalion Constable
Mridul Ch Rabha and Trepatin T Sangma, driver.
The incident took place at around 8 am.

“Sangma was in the driver’ seat and the incident happened when Rabha
was about to board the vehicle. His gun went off accidentally when he
was adjusting his seat. Rabha was hit in the stomach and Sangma in the
chest”, said G H P Raju, inspector general of police (Operations).
Rabha was airlifted to Guwahati for treatment and Sangma is undergoing
treatment at Tura civil hospital.(SP News)
