Shillong, April 05: It has come to the notice of the police that some unscrupulous person have been circulating disturbing images of newly born child in the toilet and a of a women body in a stream in social media with the malafide intention to create sensation and confusion in the mind of the public.
The comment with these images is not factual in nature and tantamount to mischief which can have wide ramification. The body of women in the stream is not an occurrence in this district while the new born baby is an event which happened in a public toilet in 2016 and not current event.
The case was register and the mother of the child was arrested. The child is safe with the relative. Public are herby to refrain from circulation such images with information which has not been verified.
Any such rumuors misleading the public will attract section 505 of the Indian Penal code where punishment is up to three years with fine or with both, said Mr Vivek Syiem MPS Superintendent of police (City) of East Khasi Hills District.
