RPF of NFR ensures passenger security with swift arrests of theft suspects

Maligaon, May 17: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has once again reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to passenger safety and security by successfully carrying out a series of operations at various locations across the zone.

On 12th May 2026, a team from Anti Drugging, Guwahati apprehended one individual, onboard Train No. 22450 (New Delhi – Guwahati) Purvottar Sampark Kranti Express for involvement in theft of passenger belongings.

Two stolen mobile phones valued at approximately Rs 30,000/- were recovered from his possession. The accused, along with the recovered item, were handed over to GRP,Guwahati, where a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.

In another operation on the same day, RPF/Post/Katihar (East) personnel apprehended one person at Katihar Railway Station. A stolen mobile phone worth approximately Rs 32,000/- was recovered. The accused was subsequently handed over to GRP, Katihar, which registered a case under appropriate sections of BNS.

Further continuing its crackdown, on 13th May 2026, CIB team of Rangiya apprehended one-person onboard Train No. 15933 (New Tinsukia – Amritsar) Express at Rangiya Railway Station with two stolen mobile phone worth approximately Rs 25,000/-. The accused was handed over to GRP/Rangiya for further legal proceedings.

These successful operations underscore the vigilance and swift response of RPF personnel in ensuring the safety and security of passengers and their belongings.
