Shillong, December 18: The Chairman of the Khasi Traditional Medicine Commission (KTDMC) Mr Banteidor Lyngdoh who is also the Executive Member in the People Democratic Front (PDF) said that soon the office of the KTDMC will be open in the premise of the KHADC.
My Lyngdoh Said that the purpose of having this commission is to protect the traditional treatment practice by the Khasi are inherited since time of memorial the KHADC want to protect and at the same time this traditional healer should be legally recognized.
So far there are more than fifteen applications have been received by the commission from the traditional healer, in which the commission will soon sit and take the final decision to give them the recognition after carefully examining their application.
In the Khasi region there are many traditional healers who are expert in their own way of giving treatment. This recognition that will be given from the KHADC as per the act of the KHADC will also help this people in financial assistant in having their own medicinal garden.
The KHADC also will take all steps to stop smuggling of medicinal plant from the Khasi Hills region outside the state. The Khasi Hill region is endow with verities of medicinal plants which is yet to harness them scientifically for the economic up-liftmen of the people.
