Shillong January 19: The celebration of the statehood Day is important to connect the past with the young generation, “ I am proud to say that we have attain statehood without shedding any blood, thank to thus leaders who has fought for the statehood”.
Dr Mukul, further said that, celebration of statehood on the 21th January is a great day for the people of the state and it should be celebrated in a befitting manner, is on this day that the younger generation should know the history how statehood is attain, and thus leaders who has fought for the statehood should be remember.
The people of Meghalaya is blessed, in comparison with others state in the country, with the population of thirty lakh the state has 60 representative, this show that each MLA served few thousand population, while in others state people are finding difficulties just to meet their elected representative.
The state government has elaborately arranged that the 45th Statehood Day Celebration on 21st January, 2017, the Government of Meghalaya will organize a series of programmes across the State. At the State Capital, Deputy Chief Minister, Prof. R. C. Laloo will grace the State function as Chief Guest at a programme to be held at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong at 11:00 am.
The highlights of the programme include distribution of Meghalaya Day Excellence Awards for Government employees, Kayakalp Award to 2 District Hospitals and 3 CHCs, Songs, Flute recitals and performance by artists from the Centre of Excellence in Indian Classical & Western Music and Flower show at the Auditorium premises.
The Assam Rifles Pipe Band will also take part in the celebration by performing at Ward’s Lake, Shillong from 2:00 pm onwards and there will be free entry from 10:00 am onwards.
At the Polo Grounds, a Womens’ Exhibition Football Match will be held at 3rd Ground, Polo at 2:00 pm to be followed by a Musical extravaganza featuring Guest Artist Julia Bliss from Russia and local bands which includes Snow White, Akhia, Arpan DJ Set, Gino, Dewdrops, Ooto Garage, K. Bloodz, Elton DJ Set, Fame the Band would be held at Polo Parking Lot, Polo from 4:00 pm onwards. Besides various cuisines will also be available for the people at the venue.
All are welcome to attend the State function at U Soso Tham Auditorium and other activities throughout the day. Entry will be free at all venues.
