Student who appeared for back papers in LLB, the result is pending 5 months with NEHU

Shillong, May 11: The Students’ Bar Association (SBA) has gone to NEHU to meet the Examination Controller today 11th May, 2017 on the demands that they have put before this concerned authority right from 10 November, 2016 last year and other issues as well that concerned the best interest of the students of the 3 years LLB course. The SBA met the Controller together in the present of the Joint-Registrar and other staffs.

The SBA feels offended because the concerned authority did not take serious enough with all the demands put before them last year though they have declared the result this time a bit early. The result of the regular students was declare early but the result of those who appeared for back papers till now is still pending and is almost 5 months now from the time the exam was over.

On saying this, the Controller instantly summoned the In-Charge who is responsible for issuing result and asked him to declare away within this coming week and also lamented the fact that such thing happened even after an instruction from him to declare the result in time. When we asked why the internal mark assessment is not issue till now the controller asked as for 2 to 3 days to find out why is not issue yet to us, and therefore to meet him  again next week.

However, many students are also not happy with the allotting of marks even after the evaluation and not satisfy in comparison with their performance. So, 12 students filed the RTI today before the Joint-Registrar (NEHU) on the corrected answer script of various subject. In fact, the Controller in the presents of the Joint-Registrar, other Staff and students today agreed that the culture of awarding marks in NEHU is very unfortunate and depressive especially for those who are capable and very competent and he said that this matter should be taken into big consideration by the professors and others who corrected the papers because everything is in the hands who does the correction and he also claimed that he had told this on many occasions to those who are responsible for this.

From the Students’ Bar Association we are determined to follow up and get our demands settle without postpone any further. The president of the SBA of Shillong Law College Mr Peter A Dohkrud  said they will meet next week again the controller and we are ready now even to agitate to get what they  demand for their  rights, they  will go to any level that might take us this time and will do it legally.
