2-Tura Lok Sabha Youth Congress organised Maa Tujhe SalaamShillong, March 28: The 2-Tura Lok Sabha Youth Congress organized “Art Mela” on the 27th of March, 2017 under the banner “Maa Tujhe Salaam” to commemorate the centenary celebration of Indira Gandhi and her glorious contribution towards the nation.

The Art Mela encompassed Drawing, Painting, Essay Writing, Caption Writing and solo singing competition for the secondary level students of Tura vicinity. Students from different prominent schools turned up for the fun filled celebration at Tura D.C. Park.

Urban Affairs Parliamentary Secretary and MLA North Tura Shri Noverfield R. Marak graced the occasion along with IYC Secy In-charge Meghalaya, Smt. Sarifa Rahman, Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress President Shri Richard M. Marak, Tura Municipal Board Chairman Shri Donbose Sangma, DCC Mahila General Secy H.R. Marak and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA North Tura Shri Noverfield R Marak said “Madam Indira Gandhiji was not only the third Prime Minister of India but a person who loved and valued the tribal people of India. For her contribution toward achieving Meghalaya statehood and concern for its people, the dwellers will ever remain indebted.”

Furthermore, remembering his younger days, Mr. N R. Marak said it was during the time when he was serving as a member of the Youth volunteer, he assisted Capt. W. A. Sangma throughout his campaign for Meghalaya statehood along with other leaders of Khasi and Jaintia Hills, which turned out to be a glorious victory thus a result of Madam Indira Gandhiji’s soft heartedness towards the people.

Indian Youth Congress Secy in-charge of Meghalaya Smt. Sarifa Rahman while addressing the gathering, expressed joy and content over participation of youths in a healthy competition and said “ More of such programmes will be organized in  future with a view to enrich the youths of the region by and large to encourage the young girls of the new millennium stand up as a leader in all fields deem fit.”

“Interacting with young minds and supporting them to enhance their self-discipline has always been a step closed for us towards finding the rarest gems.” said MPYC President R M Marak.

Mr. Marak further recalled his past days as a teenager to encourage the youths to strive for the best and be the vibrant leaders of the State stating that no one is born a leader but determination and hard work always pays off. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Marak also congratulated the Leaders and volunteers of 2-Tura Lok Sabha youth Congress for their tireless work and their dedication.
