Shillong, August 17: The Assam Rifles Karate Team attained Second position amongst the 36 teams participated in the recently concluded All India Independence Karate Championship held at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi from 12-14 Aug 2016. The team bagged two Gold and three Bronze Medals in the Championship.
The prestigious Inter Police Championship was keenly contested by Seven teams from the Central Armed Police Forces including CRPF, ITBP and BSF and 29 teams from the various State Police Forces. Gold Medals were won by Rifleman S Priyananda (55-60 kg) and Rifleman L Lemba (60-67 kg) while Rifleman Amir Khan (Kate category), Rifleman Ajesh (84 kg plus) and Rifleman Parsuram (75-84 kg) brought laurels to Assam Rifles by winning the Bronze Medals.
The Lt Gen HJS Sachdev, PVSM, AVSM,SM, ADC Director General Assam Rifles conveyed his felicitation to the team for adding on laurels to the glorious achievements of the Force in the Sporting arena.
