Shillong, August 24: On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), various functions were organised in Shillong Army station under the aegis of 101 Area to commemorate its 50 Glorious Years. These Golden Jubilee Celebrations were spread over three days and commenced on the morning of 21 Aug 2016 with the theme, “Rise and Shine Walk Divine!”, a walk by the families and children of service personnel. The next day 22nd Aug 2016 was dedicated to the “Veer Naris” where in medical camp was conducted in Military Hospital followed by their felicitation and interaction over a sumptuous meal at the Flag Staff House.
23rd Aug 2016, the Golden Jubilee Day, was commemorated with a Central Special Family Welfare Meet at the Dah Auditorium in Assam Regimental Centre. The Special Meet started with the video address by Mrs Neerupma Bakshi, Regional President AWWA, Eastern Command from Kolkata. A cultural programme which showcased the talent of the volunteer participants was held which was followed by a Quiz Competition. Speaking on the auspicious occasion, Mrs Pratibha S Nawathe, Zonal President AWWA, 101 Area lauded the efforts of all members and emphasized on the ethos of Sharing and Caring. The day ended with a ‘BaraKhana’ for the families.
