The BJYM urged the state government to upgrade the education equivalent with the CBSE

SHILLONG, July 16: The Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) BJP state youth wing has stressed on the need for the state government to upgrade the educational structure of MBOSE so as to be equivalent to that of CBSE and ICSE.

Addressing newsmen after the conclusion of a meeting to declare new office bearers of BJYM East Khasi Hills District, BJP state youth president Egenstar kurkalang, said, We want the syllabus of MBOSE to be equivalent to CBSE and ICSE as we have seen that many of our youths are unable to compete when it comes to various competitive exams since most of the questions being set are not from the syllabus of MBOSE but from CBSE or ICSE and this has greatly hampered  our youths chances to succeed in the exams.”

Observing that there are some drawbacks in MBOSE syllabus he said, there is a need for improvement and up gradation in the MBOSE especially since there are still plenty of inadequacy in the syllabus.

Stating that there are many youths who are unsuccessful in various competitive exams, Kurkalang said, “If there is a lack of foundation right from the start it’s going to be difficult for our youths in the future to succeed in various competitive exams and the government should strengthen the foundation of MBOSE.”

According to him, the state government has failed to uplift the educational sector in the state.

In this connection he said, “The state government has failed to bring in an ‘Education Policy’ which is vital to uplift education and employment of the youths in the state.”

He added, “In the past few days we have witnessed that over 3,000 students, who cleared Class X exam from different institutions have yet to get admissions in various government higher secondary institutions and we demand that the government should take immediate action to insure that these students get admissions.”

Pointing out that the state government has not been able to control the exuberant college fees for students, he said the fees has been increasing from time to time and the government has not taken any steps to control the increase fees and according to him this has closed the doors for many families coming from underprivileged homes to send their offspring for higher education.

He further said that in 4 or 5, government higher and secondary schools there are many vacant posts of Vice Principal however the government has yet to appoint anyone to fill the vacancy.

“The state government when appointing any teacher they appoint them on contract basis and by doing this there is no Job security,” he said adding that this will also affect the students because teacher appointed on contract basis does not have any confidence in them to impart quality education towards their students.

He said the state government should always appoint on regular basis and do away with the contact basis system.

The BJYM in a meeting at their office headquarter in Shillong have also ddeclared the names of all the new office bearers and Executive Members of the Committee for East Khasi Hills District (EKHD) for a term of 3 years from 2016 to 2019 which comprises of 10 constituency.
