Shillong, June 10: on specific input, BSF troops deployed in South West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya apprehended drug smuggler identified as Md. Jiaual Rahman (34 yrs) S/o- Md Hamidul Rahman, R/o- Vill- Lilong Bazar, PO+PS – Lilong, Distt – Thoubal, Manipur along with his associate namely Nikhil Bhutia (36 yrs) S/o- Sange Bhutia, R/o- Happy valley, Shillong, from East Khasi Hills District Meghalaya from Barsora area near international border.
During search, party recovered a packet containing 100 gm Brown Sugar, worth approx Rs.5,00000/- , one mobile with Bangladesh SIM, and some other items.On questioning, theyrevealed that this brown sugar wasbrought from Shillong and was to be handed over to some Bangladeshi nationals on International Border as a sample.
On questioning, they revealed that their 3 accomplishes were staying in Shillong, accordingly, on 9th June 2014at about 1100 hrs, BSF troops along with Meghalaya police, apprehended their 03 associates from Police Bazar area of Shillong city.
They were identified as Hafiz Kefayatullah (26 yrs) S/o Basiruddin, Badre Alam (29 yrs) S/o Roshan Ali and Md Muaj S/o Moulana Alimuddin all R/o vill – Lilong Turel, PO & PS – Lilong, Distt – Thoubal, Manipur who were waiting for the return of Jiaul Rehman from border.
Apprehended personnel confessed that there is a racket active from Manipur which brings the drugs consignment from Myanmar and it is further brought to Shillong from Manipur.This time they contacted some Bangladeshi national and deal was to be finalized for which sample was to be handed over to a BD national namely Yasin in Barsora area in South West Khasi Hills near International Border. He also confessed that they were working for Aulad Khan (36 yrs), R/o vill – Lilong (Usoipokpi, near NH – 39), PO & PS – Lilong, Distt – Thoubal, State – Manipur.
Apprehended person and seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further disposal and legal action as per law of the land.(SP News)
