The BSF seized 71 cattle from Nayabazar EKH District it cost Rs. 7.8 lacs

Shillong, February 15: BSF troops deployed at Baburambil in West Garo Hills distt of Meghalaya apprehended one Bangladeshi liquor smuggler on international border while he was trying to exfiltrate from India to Bangladesh. The apprehended person was identified as Barnath Marak from Panihata village of Sherpur District , Bangladesh.

During search, party recovered one Mobile, 08 Btls liquor and Rs. 2,440/- Indian currency from his possession. The BSF has intensified its extra vigil along International Border keeping in view of liquor smuggling. The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent such illegal transporting of liquor and cattle along International Border in Meghalaya.

In another incident, BSF troops deployed at Lukaichar and Balughat, South West Garo Hills district and at Nayabazar, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, seized 71 cattle approx value Rs. 7.8 lacs while being smuggled to Bangladesh.

In addition the BSF troops seized 251 Cattle, one Gecko, Liquor 2546 botls and other contraband items worth more than 59 Lac, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the International Border along Meghalaya during last week in more than 55 incidents.
