The BSF seizes 116 cattle’s in the Meghalaya- Bangladesh International Border

Shillong, February 07: The troops of Border Security Force yet again showing alertness on International Border seized huge numbers of cattle at zero line. The BSF troops deployed at Ringthingpara, Lukaichar and Gopinathkilla in South West Garo Hills district, Meghalaya foiled the forced attempt of smugglers and prevented 96 cattle being smuggled to Bangladesh. These areas in South West Garo Hills are frequently being used by these smugglers in the greed of high profit.

Similarly, in another incident, the BSF troops deployed at Lyngkhat, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya seized 20 cattle while being smuggled to Bangladesh. The special operation party of BSF laid a trap while some smugglers along with cattle were proceeding towards Bangladesh through a thickly vegetated area. The BSF troops rushed towards the suspected area before the smugglers could succeed in their nefarious activity, brave Jawans cordoned off the area and recovered a considerable numbers of cattle.

Prices of cattle have gone up in recent months after the BSF checked the illegal supply channels to Bangladesh. The BSF has continuously been in its drive against the Cattle smugglers. The Border Security Force has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent Trans-border crimes. It has also sought cooperation of local police to enhance joint efforts against these cattle smugglers in hinter land also.

In addition the BSF troops seized 282 Cattle, approx. 185 Cft Wooden logs, Liquor 316 botls, Ganja, Hemp 7 Kg and other contraband items worth more than 23 Lac, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the International Border along Meghalaya during last week in more than 44 incidents.
