Shillong, October 19: The Chief Executive Member of the KHADC, Mr PN Syiem in his reply to the resolution brought by the MDC from Jaiaw to amendment the Rules 128 of the Assam Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of the District Council) Rules 1951, as amended. All the citizens of India not below the age of 18 years can contest, be electors to the District council.
The CEM of the KHADC, Mr Syiem said that this cannot be done for the KHADC alone, but he will convince the two others District Council in the state the GHADC and the JHADC to disused on this issued, and he assured the house that he will try to call within a month.
The CEM also express that to deal with this issued its need consultation with the constitutional expert, and if need they may also suggest for the amendment in the Six Schedule. He assured the house that if can be done they will bring an amendment in the next session of the KHADC.
The mover of the resolution Mr Adelbert Nongrum express his feeling that the District Council mean to protest the interest of the Tribal, he claim that this is the spirit of the Six Schedule, others members who participate in the discussion are Mr Ban Basaiwmoit, Smti Telenia Thangkhiew all this members also express their desire that let this para 128 be amended.
After the reply from the CEM of the KHADC, the mover of the resolution Mr Adelbert withdraw his resolution after the CEM Mr PN Syiem assure the house to call for the meeting of all the three ADCs of the state to disused together on this issued.
