Shillong, June 22: The long awaited building for the office of the Directorate of Information and Public Relation government of Meghalaya finally come into reality when the Information minister Mr AL Hek today laid the foundation stone of the building at Lawer Lachimier. The cost of the building is 9.41 cores.
Speaking on the gathering the minister incharge information Mr Hek said that why this building will cost up to nine cores, the reason is that this bulding will be one of the most importing building of the government which will have multicity facility. He does not want to see that this building will escalate form the amount sanction.
The minister has hinted that, a time has come that if a contractor completes the work within a given time he should be awarded but if he could not complete in time the contractor should be imposed with a fine, there should be a win-win policy for both. He do not want to see that this construction of this building will have cost overrun.
The Chairman of the Meghalaya Government Construction Corporation (MGCC) Mr RV Lyngdoh assure that this building will be completed on the target date that is March 2018, he also pointed out that many government construction laying lavishly un complete for many years and this has cost the state exchanger so dearly.
He pointed out that this building is so importance, because from this building that disseminates information to the public about the programme and policy of the state government so this IPR department should be treated as a major department.
Others who speak on this function are the Commissioner secretary IPR Smti MHK Marak, the Director HM Shangpliang who spoke about the build why it has been delay in constructing the building, the Managing Director MGCC, the president of the Shillong Press Club and the Genenral Secretary of MEPA, the Contractor Mr know as bah Deng Rapsang was also present.
