The CPC urged the MeECL not to give load shedding during Durga Puja Festival

Shillong, September 28: The Central Puja Committee (CPC) urged the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) to stop load shedding during the ongoing Durga Puja Festival, special from 7th to 11th of October since all the rituals were held with this days.

Addressing media person at the Shillong press club, the president Mr Naba Bhattarcharjee and the Genenral Secretary Mr J L Das said that they will go and meet the MeECL official on Monday to request the MeECl not to go for load shedding during the Puja Festival.

On the statutory warning issued from the forest department government of Meghalaya, the President Mr Bhattacharjee said that, the CPC has instructed all idols makers not to use any chemicals that will affect the environment since 2009 but for the first time that the forest department has   issue such statutory warning.

The CPC will organized an interfaith get together on the 4th of October next month because Durga Puja Festival is not only a religious festival but also a social get together, this get together has been done in the last four years and this will continued.

This there are 166 pandals in all over the state, In khasi Hills 92 pandals, only in shillong City 67 pandals, in RI Bhoi District 11 pandals, in Jaintia Hills 9 pandals and in Garo Hills 54 pandals and in Tura itself is 24 pandals.
