Shillong, June 15: The CSWO has received information that the Police of South Garo Hills have tortured another youth named Tochang Sangma who was arrested on the 24th May 2014 and was remanded for 10 days police custody.
He hails from Chokpot South Garo Hills. The next day after his arrest he was taken to Baghmara Police Station and beaten up mercilessly and he had to be hospitalized as he suffered internal injuries.
He was vomiting blood and was also urinating blood. He was again ‘suspected’ of having links with a group UALA. His Bolero was seized by the Police and they have not made a seizure list and they are using the bolero which is illegal as they have to inform the court about the seizure.
His parents have informed that he is losing his memory as he was beaten in the head by the police and he also cannot breathe properly. Now he is hospitalized in the Tura Civil hospital, and handcuffed to his bed.
This inhuman act of Torture by Police is continuing and the government is condoning torture which is a gross Human Right violation and is to be highly condemned. Action is demanded against the perpetrator as they are not above the law.(SP News)
