The DC of the SWGH District prohibit movement of people at night Indo-Bangladesh border

Ampati, August 6: In light of the current situation in Bangladesh and the associated risks of international gang activities, criminal movements, and smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border within the district, urgent measures have been enacted to ensure the safety and security of the region.

Recent intelligence indicates an imminent threat from international gangs and criminals who may engage in smuggling activities, including cattle, contraband goods such as phensidyl, yaba tablets, ganja, and liquor.

There is a concern that these smugglers and anti-national elements could congregate near the international border during night hours, posing a significant risk to Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. The use of sharp-edged weapons, petrol bombs, crackers, and lathis against BSF personnel is a noted risk.

In response to these threats, Hema Nayak, IAS, District Magistrate of South West Garo Hills district, Ampati, exercising the powers conferred under Section 163 BNSS, has issued an order prohibiting the movement of persons within 200 meters of the Indo-Bangladesh border between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. This order takes effect immediately and will remain in force until further notice. This order has been passed ex-parte due to the urgency of the situation.
