Shillong, October 11: The Durga Puja annual festival culminated peacefully in Meghalaya today in all the headquarters of the district of the state amidst tide security.
There are over 166 pandals were installed in different parts of the state in this Durga Puja festival, in different parts of the state, In khasi Hills 92 pandals, only in shillong City 67 pandals, in RI Bhoi District 11 pandals, in Jaintia Hills 9 pandals and in Garo Hills 54 pandals and in Tura itself is 24 pandals.
The Durga Puja is celebrated in the state with great enthusiasm where people of different faith and religions visited different pandals from one location to the others greeting each other’s in this festive season.
In Shillong City public transport service was press into service beyond the schedule time to east the commuters who wish to visit different pandals erected in various part of the Shillong City.
The immersion of idols in Meghalaya today completed till evening time under tide security particularly in Shillong City. The Governor of the state V Shanmuganathan and the Chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma has greeted the people of the state on this Durga Puja festival.
