Shillong, August 20: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr. Conrad K Sangma said that the electrical detonator manage to intercept by the Police of Ri Bhoi District has no document, that the destination where to be taken was clear which mean for the particular stone quarry.
The Chief Minister the police has detain one person and the investigation is own, it was clear that the intention is not to harm but since they are transported without proper document the police has to investigate the cases, the person detain was still in the hand of the police for further interrogation.
In the press statement issued from the police today they said that at around 01:10 am police officials of Ri-Bhoi District intercepted 1 (one) vehicle bearing registration number AS-01 BV 8065 near Byrnihat Out Post which was proceeding towards Guwahati, Assam.
The vehicle was initially signalled to stop at Umsning but the driver of the vehicle evaded the police team by speeding the vehicle, following which a police team pursued the vehicle and it was finally detained in Byrnihat.
On searching the vehicle, 2044 nos. of aluminium instantaneous electrical detonator and 4027 nos. of neo-gel (gelatine sticks) were found inside the vehicle.
A criminal case has been registered under Nongpoh Police Station against the occupant of the vehicle under relevant provision of the Explosive Substances Act and the explosive substances have also been seized. The investigation of the case is in progress to further ascertain the facts.
