Shillong, October 27: The police suspect that the GNLA who was hot death in the encounter at Gare Rindi in South Garo Hills on the 26,10.2016 morning is resemble to that of the area commander alias Salman.
Speaking to SP News Agency the Superintendent of police South Garo Hills District, Annan Mishara said that till today they are yet to confirm if he is the area commander of the GNLA, but looking from the face and the photograph the police belief that the GNLA member is likely to be that of the area commander. The police is yet to conform if he is an area commander.
Reacting swiftly to a source information, yesterday, 26.10.2016 morning a South Garo Hills District Police team, including SF-10 Commandos attacked a make shift camp of GNLA in Gare Rindi area under Nongalbibra Ppolice station.
A fierce gun fight took place for almost half an hour starting 11.00 AM. After the firing was over the general area was searched and found one unidentified male dead body with one AK Rifle in his hands. Also huge amount of sophisticated weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site. Also huge nos. of Demand Notepads were recovered.
Weapons recovered include one HK Rifle, One AK Rifle, One SLR, One 2 inch Mortar, One Grenade Launcher, Two Mortar Shells, One Chinese Live Grenade, Seven Magazines, more than 160 live ammunition, One Walky Talky, Three Mobile Handsets, One Notebook and many other camp items were recovered and seized.
Even on 24.10.2016, Chokpot Police raided undamari village area and had an Encounter in the nearby jungles. One cadre, Akhilang was shot and others managed to escape dragging the injured cadre away. They took cover of villagers and vanished in the jungles. Police operations intensified in Chokpot area.
The police have identified the GNLA Militant that was hsot death in the encounter his name is Bukarstar G Mamoin from the Village Dameaphal of North Garo Hills District, he was one of the senior most in the Militant Group, he is not an area commander as they presume.
