The GVK EMRI 108 Ambulances clarified they have no employee by the term ‘helper’

Shillong, May 11: The 108 Ambulances have no employee by the term ‘helper’. The occupants in the ambulance were Mr. Teiborlang Lyngdoh, Emergency Medical Technicians (Paramedic) who had been with GVK EMRI 108 for the past 9 Years. He was one of the best trained and dedicated employee of GVK EMRI 108. He had served in the districts of West Khasi Hill, West Garo Hills, Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hills handling a total of 2600 plus emergencies which consist of 1000 plus pregnancy related emergencies, 324 trauma emergencies, 65 cardiac emergencies among others.

He was also responsible for assisting 20 deliveries in the ambulance.  The second occupant was Pilot Mr Pyrshangbor  Marwein (Ambulance Driver) who was one of the best pilot of GVK EMRI 108 serving with the organization for the last 7 months. He was based out of Mairang and had handled more than 125 emergencies in this short period.

All 108 ambulances are fitted with GPS and alerts are received and recorded when ambulances cross 50 Km per hour. No such alert was received in this case. Also as a safety measure all 108 ambulances have a speed lock at 70 Km per hour that prevents ambulances from crossing the prescribed speed limit.

According to sources at the hospital the preliminary post mortem report states that the cause of death was traumatic injury to the head and chest for both the victims. The toxicology report is awaited as it has been sent to the laboratory for further test.
