The KHADC has extended another’s 45 days to examine on the NOC on Road project on Mawthabah

Shillong, June 20:  The Executive Member incharge mine in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Mr Hedrian Lyngdoh while answering to the question put by Smti T S Tahgnkhiew of Mylliem the Executive Member inform the house that the Council has not issued No Objection Certificate for Road Construction on Mawthabah.

While answering to supplement queries the EM In charge said that the Executive Committee has constituted a committee on this issued to ascertain the ground reality on the issued. The Committee which consists of nine members has visited the area and from the people that they meet there are two opinions arise one group welcome the project and the others opposed it.

From the committee has submitted it finding to the Executive Committee, and the executive committee has extended the time of the committee for another’s 45 days to  further examine before given the report to the Executive Committee. From the Committee they have written to the Ministry of Road   Transport Government of India seeking clarification what is the objection in contracting this road and they are still to get the reply.

The EM in charge told the house that many want to know whether the road is for uranium manning or for what purpose, if   not for uranium mining many people want that the road should be started for construction.

The MDC from Mylliem said that the EC should not delay in taking decision, if it delay it will affected the development and cost overrun is inevitable.MDC form mylliem want to know from the EC weather they can change the aliment without passing through place where deposit of uranium is.  The MDC from Jaiaw Mr Adelbert Nongrum said that the road on that are is very bad.
