Shillong, August 20: The North Eastern Police Academy to day observed it’s foundation day by planting trees follow by organizing many programmed, like cooking, suck race and many more.
NEPA is the one and only Regional Police Training Academy in the Country was established on 21st July 1978, on the recommendation of the Gore Committee with the objective of training the police personnel of North Eastern States.
This year, to commemorate the foundation day 21st July but since it coincide with the Sunday they have organized it today.
The Academy has organised many programmes. On the concluding day 20/08/2016, NEPA organised an awareness programme titled “Environmental awareness and effects of Green House Gases on mother earth”.
Dr K S Elangbam, President of the Rotary Club of Shillong, inaugurated the programme and Dr Santaram Joshi, Professor of NEHU, Shillong, addressed the trainee officers and staff of NEPA on the harmful effects of presence of greenhouse gasses in atmosphere, global warming, climate change, ozone depletion, sea level rise, adverse effects on biodiversity etc.
