The Shillong Lajong FC club will play the final match of the 8th Bodousa Cup 2016 in Assam

Shillong, July 08: The Shillong Lajong FC youngsters played the Semi Finals today against Defending Champions, Oil India FC from Duliajan and won the match by 3-2, to progress to the Finals of the 8th Bodousa Cup 2016 in Assam.

The Semi Final match  was played on Thursday in Tinsukia under floodlights as matched kicked off at 7:50pm.

The Reds played against tough opponents on Thursday  as Oil India FC had good experienced players on their side and were also favorites to retain the Cup. However, Lajong youngsters played very well to win the match and ensured a place in the Finals. Oil India managed to score two goals against Lajong who had not conceded a single goal before today’s semi final.

The First Goal for Lajong was scored by Redeem Tlang in the 20th minute and assisted by Sheen Sohktung. Milan Basumatary scored a brace in the 43rd and 60th minute earning himself the Man of the Match award.

The team will play the finals on the 10th of July in Tinsukia at the District Sports Association Stadium.
