Shillong, May 17: The Non-payment of Social Welfare Department, the nutrition items supply Bill of S.H.G. and Societies to Aganwadi centres which is amounting to 75 Crores is an intention of the state Government to take away the right of S.H.G and societies, this work of supplying nutritions to ICDS Centres/Aganwadi as empowered by Supreme Court Order 2004 that the Government should engage this work to S.H.G/Societies/Women organization/groups instead of Contractors.
The state Government keeps on pending to pay the Bill to SHG and Societies since 2015 till dat. The Government makes partial payment rest of the quarters of 2015-16, 2016-17 is still pending, actually the Central Government through the Ministry of Women & Child Development released all the funds and grant regularly in time. The question here is where the Social Department kept all this amount where it spend for what purpose it have to clarify to the public. We also came to know that the Bill under SABLA Scheme is still pending since 2013-14.
This happened it may be the S.H.G. and Societies are the group run by unemployment Youths and low income person they cannot bribe or pay commission or share to Social Welfare high official and to Minister therefore they want to give this job to their own contractor or Business partner as they need a share commission or percentage since the election is near.
We demand from the Government to take appropriate action to deal with the person who is involved in this job immediately, if the Government keep quiet in this issue we will go ahead in our own step, said Egenstar Kurkalang, President BJYM, Meghalaya.
