The UCIL should withdraw the tender on uranium mining in SWKD demand the JACSO

Shillong, July 06: The Joint Action Committee of Social Organization (JACSO) a conglomeration of the social organization of South West Khasi Hills District demanded from the Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), to withdraw the tender that was floated on the 30th of June 2016.

The Chairman of the JACSO Mr Wallam Syiemiong said that the government of Meghalaya is fooling the people of state with no clear indication about the purpose of the road construction in that area where the Uranium deposit is available.

The point of discussion that was on with the District council is on the construction of the two lanes road from Nongstoin to Wahkaji Mawthabah,  even this issued has not been solved, the UCIL has call for this tender for mining of Uranium in the area, the Chairman of the JACSO slam all the authority concern for their double standard atituded.

From the tender floated by the  UCIL  that the last date for  submission of the bit will be on the 31st of this Month, clearly  mention that the construction work that will be carried out on the mining side are ,approach road, bridges and culverts, Water Storage arrangement and intake well in the nearest adequate source, pumping and pipeline.

The Transmission line for Power supply, communication etc, the Switch yard for receipt of main electrical power supply for the project, the overburden removal of 2.60 million tons per annum, excavation in ore body and 3, 75,000 tone uranium ore annually and supply to processing plant.

The Chairman of the JACSO said that the state government and all related department concern who are dealing with the Uranium  mining has kept the people of Meghalaya in the dart, in all this years, they  come to know about the  intention of the UCIL only when they saw that  the Corporation has floated the tender.
