Shillong, July 20: The United Democratic Party (UDP) on Wednesday expressed it gratitude towards the Nongkrem Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) for accepting the ‘open debate’ challenge on five issues proposed by them.
In a statement released here Shylla said the people of the constituency will be able to get clarification from the debate on who is right and wrong and the debate will also ensure that the mudslinging on various issues will come to a complete haut.
On the allegations made by HSPDP in connection with the distribution of livestock (pigs) at Mawkynthih, Shylla stated that that he has already clarified the issue 8 years back and does not see the need to clarify on the issue again.
“Let this Open Debate in which I and HSPDP leader Arden M. Basaiawmoit, MLA from Nongrem constituency will take part in be a success in way in which the people will know the rule and laws of the land in a proper manner,” he said.
He observed that now since both parties have agreed to the debate challenge on the five issues the thing that is left for him to complete is to write a letter to the Sordar and headmen of Nongkrem Constituency so that they can discuss on the preparation for the debate.
