The Women’s College shilling, organised a two day Orientation Programme in the city

Shilong, dec 17: The Women’s College shillong a premier girls college of the City as well as Women’s College Higher Secondary in collaboration with the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya,  organised a two day Orientation Programme on the 15th and 16th December 2020.

The theme was “Gender Based Violence and its Prevention” to commemorate the 16 days UN Activism from 25th November to 10th December on Gender Based Violence for the students and the teachers of the institute.

On  both the days the resource persons, from women’s commission Kong Theilin Phanbuh,Chairperson state Women’s Commission Meghalaya, representatives from the Meghalaya police department, Smt. Supriya Das, IPS, SDPO, Sardar Police Station and Shri B. Jyrwa, MPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Advocate, Suparna Shyam, from the legal fraternity and representatives from NGOs working in the field of women and child rights, Balarisa Lyngdoh and Shannon Masser from Faith Foundation participated and oriented the participants on various topics such as gender, women’s rights, cyber crimes and its prevention, sexual harassment in the work place and other related topics.

The programme was inaugurated in the auditorium of Women’s College in the presence of the Mission Director SRCW, Dr C Khonglah, principal of Women’s College Dr Ratnadeep Roy, Administrator of Women’s College Higher Secondary, Dr Moushumi Dey, the college faculty and students and other invited guests.
