Two died and five injured in a bus accident

Shillong, June 8: Atleast two people died and five others were injured when a night super bus met with an accident at Shillong bypass.

The accident took place at around 5:25 am in the morning when a truck bearing registration number AS 11 BC 2994 collided with the nighsuper bus ( AS 01 GC 4799) at Diengpasoh in Shillong bypass road. Police said, “spare driver of the bus viz., Jehangir Khan (34 yrs) died on the spot, while the bus driver along with six occupants sustained injuries and were shifted to NEIGHRIMS, where the bus driver succumbed to his injuries. The truck driver fled away after the incident.”

The injured were rushed to North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Medical science. One patient is said to be in critical condition.

According to NEIGRIHMS medical officer Dr. Marbaniang, “One Iqbal Ahmed, 35 years,  is in ICU and is in critical condition.”

The doctors also informed that other injured were  Debanada Sharma- 18 years (Male), Ramananda Sharma 58 years (Male). Two other injured  Sunil Kant Das (63 years) and Sobojit Ghosh (12 years) sustain minor injury and was released after initial treatment.

Five people travelling in a local taxi sustain injury when  one Ford Figo car (ML-08C-5010) driven by David Ch Marak collided head on with one local taxi (ML-10A-9160) driven by Augustine Lapang at Pahammawlein Toll Gate under Nongpoh PS (RB).

The incident happened this morning at around 10:30. The injureds were shifted to Nongpoh Civil hospital for treatment.

In another incident, Last night, a six year old minor girl was knocked down by one unidentified vehicle at Laitkor last evening.​
