Unidentified body found by the Meghalaya police from Tuchagre

Tura, July 9: The body of an unidentified man was today recovered by
the South West Garo Hills (SWGH). The highly decomposed body of the
man was recovered from Tuchagre, very close to Gambegre in West Garo
Hills, a territory that is not only remote but hostile as well.
The police team had received information of a body being found but due
to the incessant rains, they were unable to go there immediately.
However, a team was dispatched today and went to the place to recover
the body.
“The place can only be covered on foot making travel difficult. The
body was then brought back to Ampati”, said R Muthu, the SP of South
West Garo Hills.
The unidentified man was murdered as the body showed signs of being
killed. “His hands were tied behind his back and his mouth was tied
with a cloth. We believe it is a murder”.
He further said that it was difficult to identify the victim as his
body was badly decomposed. “From the sight of the body it seems he was
killed about 4-5 days ago. From the looks of it he seems to be a non
Garo, but as the face is bloated, it has been difficult to identify”,
he added.
Post mortem conducted at Tura civil hospital. Investigation is on.
The police team have also urged people to come forward and identify
the victim as they are still unable to do so as there are no
identification papers.(SP News)
