Minister of Art & Culture inaugurates “New India- We Resolve to Make” exhibition in Shillong

Shillong, April 07: Minister of Art & Culture, H&FW and IPR Department Govt of Meghalaya Shri Alexander Laloo Hek inaugurated a five-day-long exhibition on ‘New India- We Resolve to Make’ at Golf Links Community Hall here today. The exhibition is being organised by Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (Regional Outreach Bureau), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India.

Speaking at the inaugural event the minister said that the Programme of Sankalp Se Siddhi (Achievement through Resolve) was similar to Quit India clarion call of 1942. “Under the New India resolve, Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has urged to cleanse India of Poverty, Garbage, Terrorism, Corruption, Casteism and Communalism”, he added. He said that the five year period from 2017 to 2022 is to give a unique opportunity of ‘Sankalp se Sidhi’ towards a ‘New India’. The minister, who visited the exhibition depicting various welfare schemes of the Central Government, appreciated the efforts of the department for organising this exhibition.

Guest of Honour and President of Shillong Press Club, David O Laitphlang said that these exhibitions are very crucial for spreading awareness on the government schemes and policies. He also added that the New India resolve is the need of the hour and if everyone contributes is his own way the six goals may be well achieved before 2022.

Regional Outreach Bureau head for Assam and Meghalaya Dr Ahmed Muyeen Farooqi earlier spoke on the Sankalp pledge taken earlier in October 2017 which was administered by Union MoS for Parliamentary Affairs  Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal. Dr Farooqi mentioned that this exhibition aims to highlight the Four years achievements and showcase the resolve of the government for future.

A quiz competition was also organised on the occasion among school children. Later on the minister also distributed prizes among the winners.

Senior officers from DDK, PIB, All India Radio, social workers and eminent journalists attended the inauguration ceremony. The exhibition will be open till 11 April and the entry will be free of charge.
