Shillong, October 17: North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), an autonomous institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong celebrated the 2nd National Ayurveda Day and Dhanwanatari Pooja with a day long programme on 17th of October, 2017 at NEIAH campus, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong.
The programme started with Dhanwantari pujan at 8:00 a.m followed by National Ayurveda Day function which was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Bhabesh Ch. Goswami, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Cotton University, Guwahati as Chief Guest and Prof. (Dr.) P. Bhattacharyya, Registrar (Academics), NEIGRIHMS as Guest of Honour in presence of Prof. (Dr.) P. K Goswami, Director, NEIAH, Smt. Kimchin Lhangum, ACS, Deputy Director (Admn), NEIAH, other invited guests, faculty and students of NEIAH.
A scientific session was also organized on the occasion based on the theme of 2nd National Ayurveda Day- “Pain Management through Ayurveda” where lectures were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Prithwish Bhattacharyya, Registrar (Academics), NEIGRIHMS, Prof (Dr) O.P Gupta, Former Head, Dept. of Kaya Chikitsa, Govt. Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Guwahati and Dr. Champak Medhi, Assistant Prof. Dept. of Shalya Tantra, Govt. Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Guwahati.
On this august occasion eight numbers of eminent Ayurvedic physicians and academicians from various North eastern states were felicitated for their contribution towards propagation of Ayurveda in the region namely- . Ayurvedic College, Guwahati and Ex-Dean, Faculty of Ayurveda, Srimanta Sankardev University of Health Sciences, Guwahati, Dr. Saibal Pandit, Medical Officer I/C Ayurveda Section, District Hospital,Udaipur, Tripura, Dr. Sudhir Kr. Bhattacharya, Senior Medical Officer (Ay.), Sonari SHC, Sivasagar, Dr. Inya Lingu, Deputy Director, AYUS, Directorate of Health Services, Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Wompher Pala, Ayurvedic Physician, Civil Hospital, Shillong and Dr. Tiakaba Jamir, Member Secretary, State Medicinal Plant Board and I/c Drug Testing Laboratory, Dimapur.
