Services Karate Team lifts kai senior national karate championship 2018

Shillong, January 16: For the first time in the history of National Karate Championship, the Services Karate team lifted overall championship during KAI Senior National Karate Championship 2018 held at Netaji Subhash Indoor Staduim, Kolkata from 13 to 14 January 2018 defending Madhya Pradesh team who was champions from continuous           12 years.

The team consisting 11 players and one coach bagged three Gold and two Bronze medals in Individual Kumite event and one Gold in Team Kata event. Out of 44 team, based on maximum Gold medals, the Services team was adjudged as overall champions in KAI Senior National Karate Championship 2018.

During grandeur ceremony, secretary of Karate Association of India (KAI) conferred the championship trophy to Team Manager Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Pankaj Gangal and Coach Hav Sawan Kumar.The Assam Regimental Centre was given the responsibility to establish Army Karate Node in 2007.  Since then the node has achieved many laurels both at National and International level.
