The Meghalaya IAS Association expressed their condolences on the passing of Mr Jopthiaw

Shillong, Jan 02:  The President of the Meghalaya IAS Association has informed that the members of the Meghalaya IAS Association in its meeting held in the office chamber of the Chief Secretary, Meghalaya on 2nd January, 2019 expressed their deep condolences and sincere sympathies on the passing of Shri Jopthiaw Lyngdoh, IAS (Retired), on 30th December, 2018.

Shri Jopthiaw Lyngdoh was born on the 5th of May, 1956, and joined the Meghalaya Civil Service (1982 batch). He was then selected for the Indian Administrative Service in 2001, and during his tenure till his superannuation on 31st May, 2016, he held several crucial assignments such as Deputy Commissioner Ri-Bhoi and East Khasi Hills Districts respectively.

Ha has held the post of  Commissioner & Secretary in the departments of Finance, Excise, Registration Taxation & Stamps, Home (Police), Political, Power and District Council Affairs. He also served as Director, Meghalaya Non-Conventional Energy and as Director, Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited.

Mr Jopthiaw Lyngdoh was an Officer who besides being a leader also had a rare quality of being able to relate to all sections of his officers and employees. As a team leader, he was able to make significant contributions in all the departments he was associated with. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. “May his soul rest in peace”
